See You In September

Even the elements, Sun, Wind, Air, Earth and Water recognized this passage of time, signaling the end of one season, and the start of another. The fiery heat of summer waned on this day, softening, as if the fire had died down, leaving only hot embers. I was curious how the air knew to cool itself, changing its nature.

Patience is a Virtue

Practicing patience does not come easily for many of us as we have a hard time sitting still, waiting for whatever we think might happen to happen. We believe that if we get involved we can somehow move the situation along or resolve the action that we think is not working. All the ideas we generate have us feel responsible to get the job done, or anxious to fix, distrusting that what ever "needs" to happen can occur without our intervention.

The Power of Retreat

Earlier this summer I wrote a piece about planting alfalfa, taking the time to replenish ourselves, body, mind and spirit. I took my own advice and retreated for six weeks, removing myself physically from all the distractions home and office offer.

Give, Give, Then Give Some More

Most of us are pretty kind when it comes to giving during a time of need. However, even the most generous among us hold onto our resources when we think the receiver may not be suffering as much as we expect. We calibrate our giving to meet a picture we've already created and from which we operate. Changing our beliefs can be challenging because we're so attached to them. Our beliefs are like reconstituted milk, coming to life when we add liquid (emotions).
